Profile 

Krawford Construction is a progressive general construction company whose scope embraces the competitive tender, construction management, and design/build methods of delivery within the construction and real estate development field. Since our incorporation in 1971, Krawford has maintained an excellent reputation within the construction industry. With our head office located in Edmonton and a branch in Calgary, Krawford has established an eminent firm built on its multiple strengths - diversity, depth, and stability. Krawford’s role in the industry is enhanced by the wide range of services we offer. New Buildings, sophisticated renovations, concrete construction, restoration projects, industrial projects, schools and educational institutions, medical and dental facilities have emerged as company specialties.

There is no other aspect of our business that is more important than the health and well being of our employees.  Through the proactive management of risk, we believe that all workplace injuries, illnesses, and loss can be prevented.   We strive to provide and maintain a safe working environment for all of our employees and trade contractors, and we are an active participant in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program sponsored by the Alberta Construction Safety Association and Alberta Labour.

Terry Tanasiuk

Terry Tanasiuk, President

Terry has worked in the construction industry since 1978 in the capacity of an estimator and project manager. He has performed a wide variety of work using many different contractual arrangements and for various user groups. The size of projects has ranged from $1,000 to $30,000,000. He has been employed by Krawford since 1986 and became a Vice President and shareholder in 1992. As President, he is responsible for ensuring all projects are completed to the entire satisfaction of the client.

Stuart Hawkeswood, VP - Construction

Stuart has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry ranging from new construction to installation of custom woodwork, concrete forming, framing, interior finishing, and general renovation work. Stuart joined Krawford initially as a superintendent and was promoted to the position of Project Manager and in 2010 was promoted to V.P. – Construction.

Dan completed his CET at NAIT in April 2009. He joined the Krawford team in 2010 and has proven he is a skilled manager and problem solver who works efficiently in a variety of project delivery environments, including new construction, modernizations, and renovations.

Jordan Zakordonski, Project Manager

Jordan completed the engineering co-op program from the University of Alberta with two years of work experience in the field and onsite construction projects. Since graduation he has worked for six years between Krawford Construction and a previous general contractor. He has been working in the construction industry for eight years and his ambitiousness coupled with his exceptional communication skills and engineering background makes him a valuable asset to any project. Jordan’s project experience ranges from small commercial improvements, to medium sized design-build projects, to large mega-projects.

Andrew Langstone, Project Manager

Andrew joined Krawford’s team in 2014, after 8 years in the construction industry as both a structural design engineer and a project manager with another general contractor, working in the commercial, institutional, and health care sectors. Andrew is a professional engineer, having graduated from the civil engineering program at the University of Alberta with a focus on structural engineering.

In construction for over 30 years Laird has seen and run a vast range of projects both on the ground and from a management perspective. These projects range from high rise projects in Toronto, shopping malls, major demolition and reconstruction projects, single family housing in China, military installations in Canada’s north, projects in Siberia, Vancouver and across Alberta and British Columbia including the Alex Frazer cable staid bridge, the largest of its kind in the world at the time. Laird is skilled at spanning a project from the big picture and client perspective to the detail required to get a project completed properly. His education spans a diploma from NAIT to a degree in Urban Land Economics from The Suander’s Business school to an MBA, Sloan Fellows, from MIT.

Justin joined Krawford Construction in 2007 and worked as a site superintendent and project coordinator before becoming a project manager. Justin recently received a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Management from Athabasca University, and is in the process of completing an MBA from the same institution.

Joanne has been with Krawford Construction for 17 years. In addition to her accounts payable responsibilities, Joanne plays an active role in a number of other key company functions, including payroll, accounts receivable, safety, and is an invaluable resource to our project managers.

Devin joined the Krawford Team in 2016 as the company's safety officer. He received his NCSO designation in 2013, after having previously worked in the construction industry for a number of years, primarily in residential construction.

Ed has been employed with Krawford since 1992. Ed is Krawford’s Senior Estimator, and has prepared estimates for projects ranging in value from $1,000 to $50,000,000. He has strong organizational skills and keen attention to details. Ed’s background and experience in new construction as well as unique projects is varied and lengthy. Ed is a strong technical member of our team.

Laurie graduated from NAIT in 1975, and has spent the past 40 years working in the construction industry. He joined Krawford Construction in 2012, and has been a valuable addition to our estimating department.

Mike Kelly, Branch Manager

Mike has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry working as an estimator, project manager, and branch manager. ike’s strengths lie in his varied experience and knowledge of the construction industry. Mike is a people person and has great communication skills. He is very familiar with the Calgary construction market having worked in it for over ten years. Mike has performed a wide variety of work with different types of contractual arrangements and for various owner groups. The size of projects range from $1,000 to $20,000,000.

Brad has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry. He has been responsible for the construction of many projects. Brad has experience in the coordination of projects in a fully operational facility. He is known as an excellent communicator and motivator of people and for his ability to coordinate a site to ensure the construction runs smoothly and efficiently.

Trevor Johnstone, Project Manager

Originally from the UK, Trevor graduated from the University of South Wales in 1988 having completed a BSc in construction management. After moving to Calgary in 1999, Trevor has worked exclusively in the commercial construction industry on a wide variety of interesting projects in western Canada. His focus is on customer service and meeting the clients expectations through a detailed understanding of the project as a whole.

Jennifer has been with Krawford Construction for 10 years, and has over 15 years in construction administration. Jennifer is an invaluable resource to our project managers and plays an active role in a number of key company functions in our Calgary office including project administration, accounts payable/receivable, and safety.

Kayle joined our Calgary team in 2016. Her background includes education in social work and business administration, and she has three years of previous construction field and office experience prior to joining Krawford. She is proficient in all core office administrative functions, and holds CSTS, OH&S, WHMIS, and First Aid certificates.
